Accordion Lessons by Guy Wiley ABCA (TD)

  • Private lessons at West Kilbride or by Skype
  • Instrument hire available for beginners
  • Preparation for Grade Exams or just play for fun
  • Music theory tuition available
  • Beginners and all ages welcome
  • Qualified teacher – Associate of the British College of Accordionists (Teaching Diploma)

Guy conducts private lessons at his studio in Meadowfoot Road, West Kilbride. However, Skype lessons are now available for students who are unable to get to West Kilbride easily. Some people prefer a mixture of Skype and conventional lessons, which maintains some personal contact while reducing travelling costs and time.  All ages of beginners and improvers are most welcome and will be taken at their own pace. Instrument hire is available for beginners who do not wish to splash out on a new accordion before trying it out.

Guy Wiley began playing accordion at the age of 17. He studied the instrument under various teachers in Glasgow and Ayr before spending 10 years attending the Graham Laurie Music Education Centre in Paisley where he studied all types of accordion playing including classical, continental and traditional styles.

In 2007, he won the prestigious Sir James Anderton Award for Musical Excellence after gaining the highest mark for grade six in the whole of the British Isles, Gibraltar, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. This was the first time anyone in Scotland had won the award. Two years later he passed Grade 8 (Final Grade) before going on to complete the Teaching Diploma ABCA (TD).

Guy is leader of the popular Loudon Ceilidh Band of Ayrshire which provides entertainment for all types of functions at a huge range of venues across Central Scotland. He also plays accordion for the Clyde Coast Fiddle Orchestra

Some people just feel they need lessons for a while to set them on the right track while others are more ambitious and require to be guided through the British College of Accordionists’ grading system. Guy also provides coaching on all the music theory that students require to complete their grades.

Be assured that whatever your musical aspirations, private lessons will be tailored to suit your particular requirements.

“It is usual for adult beginners to feel nervous about embarking on a new learning venture. I completely understand this and make a point of keeping lessons on a friendly, easy-going footing as music works so much better for people when they are in a relaxed frame of mind.

Book your first lesson today and embark on a musical journey you will never regret.

Guy Wiley is lead accordionist with The Loudon Ceilidh Band – a lively and modern function band, ideally suited to weddings and parties of all kinds.

“Dear Guy

Can I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your efforts as the teacher in the preparation of the exam candidates. Musically, there is so much to commend. I did, as the examiner, appreciate the efforts.”
